VIRGINIA SMITH ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP

ELIGIBILITY

1. Applicant must be a graduating senior from on the 76 Nebraska High Schools selected to be part of the Endowment Scholarship Program.

2. Applicant must have a “C” average to be eligible.

3. Applicant must be able to demonstrate a financial need. Such as: have other members of family in college that places a financial burden on parents/guardians/grandparents; study time vs. part time employment; have limited savings; and, needed in school clubs and other activities.

4. Applicant need not enroll in a program leading to a Bachelor’s Degree, but rather may wish to pursue a course leading to a Vocational Technical Certificate or an Associate Degree at one of the Community Colleges.

5. Applicant must not use this scholarship to supplement a Regents, Board of Trustees, Presidents, or receiving $2,000 from other awarded scholarships, would make applicant ineligible for this scholarship. If you are placed in this situation, please visit your counselor.

HOW TO APPLY

1. Have one of your administrators, (Supt/Prin/Couns), a teacher of your choice, and employer, (if applicable) complete the recommendation form.

2. Return your application to your counselor. Have all recommendations sent to your counselor. Deadline for receiving all information is February 27, 2009.

3. Winners will be notified by Graduation Date.

4. The $1,500 will be awarded on a one-time basis and will not be renewable. A check for $750 will be sent to your school’s financial aids & scholarship office in August and an additional check for $750 will be sent in December for the second semester.
