- 80% of 5th graders scored in the top two quartiles in math, while only 35.7% of 6th graders, 53.5% of 7th graders, and 70% of eighth graders scored in these same two quartiles.
- 46.7% of 5th graders, 50% of 6th graders, 34.4% of 7th graders, and 40% of 8th graders scored in the bottom two quartiles in Language Arts.
Interpretation of Data:
- The data reveals an alarming trend occurring with the transition between 5th and 6th grade in the content area of math. As students progress through middle school, they seem to gradually rebound from low 6th grade scores.
