Assessment of State Standards: Reading

Creek Valley Schools: 8th Grade

 

Analysis of Data:

In the 2004-2005 school year, 82.76% of students met or exceeded State Standards 8.1.5: Identify/Apply knowledge of informational/non-fiction text, and 8.1.7: Analyze literary works, nonfiction, films, or media. Creek Valley students performed below state average in both of these standards.

In the 2005-2006 school year, 77.78% of students met or exceeded State Standard 8.1.4: Identify/Apply elements and structure to analyze fiction. 83.33% of students met or exceeded State Standard 8.1.5 (see above). Creek Valley students performed below state average in both of these standards.

Interpretation of Data:

Creek Valley students in 8 th grade are performing below state average in State Standard 8.1.5 involving non-fiction and informational text. Lower percentages in other areas are only detectable on a case-by-case yearly basis. Therefore, no pattern is detected or evident.
