The present Alumni Association was organized in the spring of 1959. The two ladies largely responsible for its beginning were Mardelle Clark and Carol Fritchman Gardner. The first minutes are dated June 20, 1959, and show the officers elected as: President LeRoy Clark, Vice President Allen Cave, Secretary Carole Gardner, Treasurer Leffie Akeson and Board Members Charlotte McCormick, Carmen McArtor, Elizabeth Matson and Clarence Howitt. It was then voted to meet every five years.
The first reunion in 1959 had 625 people being served dinner in the Chappell High School Auditorium. In 1979 the reunion was held in the City Park on Aug. 11 and nearly 1000 alumni and guests gathered for a grand and glorious celebration.
